Initial Dogecoin Austria meetup at the Coded Cultures: Openism festival in Vienna, Austria!

Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency, yet it is not just another Bitcoin-clone. Its name is related to the Shiba Inu dog from the «Doge» Internet meme serving as its logo. This particular meme usually consits of a Shiba Inu dog with sort of wacky thoutghtbubbles around it, always written in comic sans.

Originally intended and introduced as a joke currency in 2013, Dogecoin quickly developed its own online community and reached a capitalisation of USD 60 million in January 2014. Business Insider titled:’ How A Thing That Started As A Joke Became The Hottest Digital Currency In The World’ The 100 billionth Dogecoin has been mined as of June 2015. Dogecoin is well known for being utilised as an Internet tipping system particularly for the online forum Reddit, in which social media users grant Dogecoin tips to others for providing interesting or noteworthy content.
